Hands-on lab in Toronto

Race to Zero

From standing privilege to just-in-time access in 90 minutes

Something in your environment is requesting privileged access right now, and there’s a decent chance it isn’t a person.

Race to Zero is a hands-on lab where you replace standing privilege with just-in-time (JIT) access and runtime authorization for humans and AI agents alike. Every request generates a full audit trail showing exactly which actions were human and which were the agent’s.

Date Thursday, October 29, 2026
Time 12:30 – 4:00pm ET
90-minute hands-on session + networking
Location K1 Toronto, North York

What you’ll build

You’ll go from concept to implementation across four rounds.

  1. Just-in-time access workflow

Create a practical JIT access model designed to reduce standing privilege and improve operational efficiency.

  2. Database and infrastructure access through StrongDM

Connect a live database and put governed JIT access in front of it.

  3. An AI agent under the same guardrails

Point an AI agent at your infrastructure and watch it run real commands under your policy, never holding a credential of its own, with a full audit trail of every action.

  4. Layer in MFA and runtime authorization

Apply MFA and implement a Cedar-based policy to govern and enforce access controls for human and AI agents.

Who should be in the room?

Security engineers, IAM and PAM users, platform and DevOps engineers, the people running your AI agents and anyone who gets paged when access breaks at 2 a.m.

Bring a teammate from the other side of the fence if you can. The lab works best when team members from different disciplines (security, infrastructure, AI) sit at the same table and argue in real time.

What to bring

A laptop and a browser. The whole lab runs in the browser, so there’s nothing to install, nothing to spin up, and no prep work before you arrive.

What’s included

  • 90-minute interactive lab
  • CPE credits
  • Networking, drinks & bites at K1 Toronto
  • Take home some sweet swag!
